What is a PC-Engine/TurboGrafx-16 console?

The PC Engine, known as the TurboGrafx-16 in North America, is a home gaming console released by NEC and Hudson Soft in 1987. It was one of the first consoles to use a CD-ROM add-on, offering enhanced graphics and audio capabilities. The console is known for its compact design and strong library of games, particularly in the shoot ’em up and action genres. While it competed against the NES and Sega Genesis, it achieved more success in Japan than in other markets.
